Chat Room or Boards?

Ok, as someone who has been loafing around a bit for a few weeks now (And yes, will be here for the long term- if only 'cos it will be once in a blue moon I have free time to chase that meet banghead

), I have a question for all you regular posters. It seems that the chatroom is more social, were people meet up and exchange all the gossip and tips, but its also where they don't like to be disturbed either; talking to friends means they don't like randoms butting in. On the other hand the bulletin boards are for the big events like MK, and the established groups organising their stuff. So... should a single guy hang around the boards until he sees a couple or a meet open to newbies/single guys, or should he wait in the chatroom and risk the Dreadful Wrath of The Mods :crazy confused

Glass newbies are always welcome in the chatroom! Of course a lot of us in there are friends but it was getting to know each other in the chatroom that got us to be friends. Plus it is a good way to meet people so get yourself in there and say hello. It does take awhile to get used to and for people to get to know you but it is well worth it. We are all pretty friendly in there and welcoming! Just a few tios... just be patient, respectful, have a sense of humour and don't whisper unless you ask permission first. Other than that just get in there and say hi! The forums are good fun too so just go ahead and post away whatever takes your fancy. Most of all just have fun! Oli x

[/quote] use chat! use the forums! use parties! use ... all the rest of the stuff- tis your web site as much as anyone's in chat we may sound a bit exclusive but we don't mean to- jsut join in and as long as you are polite there should be no issues (tis unnerving though - i remember being a newbie) as for the wrath of the mods... :upset: i would hope that we are not the enemy actually. talk to us- you may be surprised :rose:

think oli and rosie have summed it all up very well,and the point of asking before ya whisper someone is a very valid point,as that does get peeps backs up, but yes use it all,as it keeps it all fresh,with different points of view,i myself have never used the forums so much until now,and i get a lot of enjoyment from gatecrashing oliviaks threads and stalking funkyd lol

as it is all good fun,the problem i have found in the chatroom of late is the fact that i go in there for 15 mins and lose a hour as time just flies,hence using the forums i can just pop in for 10 mins or so, enjoy,and be yourself,mk4 is not long away as seds has pointed out and this will just enhance your experience of the site, chat soon, the bays xxx

Oh, I intend to. It's finding the free time at the moment- busy part of the year for me right now. I get what you mean about the chatroom as opposed to the forums. They can get checked quickly. Very well, I shall lurk in the chatroom and introduce a couple of topics to see who writes back. Thanks guys!

We like to use both the chatroom and the forum ... when it comes to whispers in the chatroom I don't mind people I know whispering anytime, but it does annoy me when people I don't know and have never spoken to do it without asking. When the chatroom is busy and the wine is flowing it's difficult to keep up, so sometimes you might miss someone saying hi or whatever or you may be in a conversation and miss something ... just bear with it and don't think people are being ignorant because you may not get an answer ... it happens to us all lol xxx

Ahem!.......Getting Back on topic Glass - what worked for me was to basically say to someone in the chat room who looked like a regular (and who I just incidentally quite liked the look of) "I'm new here - how does this all work, what are the rules - written and unwritten" and from there a conversation was struck up - and other people got involved and before I knew it I felt like I'd been here for ages - it really was that simple. Of course praps it helps that I'm a gobshite who loves to banter. People will be only too happy to talk to someone who makes an effort to be part of the fun rather than a square peg. also I'd say talk to everyone who sounds like fun even other blokes - we won't think yer a poof (unless you are one of course in which case we wont care - sorry didn't read yer profile) - don't just speak to those peeps woth profiles that suit you - or lurk without saying anything till a couple or lady comes in and then pounce on them. Firstly that what everyone tries, puts the recipient under immediate pressure, and secondly if people see your a sociable person - they'll want to be sociable with you - in other words don't try too hard and people will come to you. Hope to see you in there mate - do say hi - gimme a nudge if I'm in full flow and miss it biggrin

sorry - 1 other thing get yourself a web cam if you haven't got one already. But for Dawkins sake don't just sit there wanking on it all night - unless funkydiva asks you really nicely or pesters you till you give in (keep tryin Funka! you might get me yet) - or unless that's really your bag. If you are prepared to show your face on cam it seems to make the world of difference in terms of how people perceive you - it shows that you are much more likely to be a genuine person. Certainly I noticed a massive difference in the number of peopel chatting to me and contacting me once I started using mine. Don't worry about being recognised - I don't even recognise meself on cam biggrin
