Hi guys,
As mentioned to a couple of you (Bibi & Swinging Cat), my dad has been on radiotherapy for lumps in the neck (non cancer thankfully).
Side effecct is that the throat lining has been zapped with the radiotherapy and throat is so sore that dad cannot eat/drink anything - too painful when swallowing. ALso, medication is making him sick. So he has lost a stone over the last week and is very dehydrated. Basically, dad has decided that to avoid the pain of swallowing, it is best to avoid swallowing by not eating/drinking. You can a certain logic to that idea but of course the complications dont bear thinking about
So they have admitted him to hospital in Dundee which is not easy for visiting from Glasgow (5 hour round trip). So me and me wife are a little stressed as you can imagine. (More so since mum has no time for illness!)
Since I know you nice peeps will be wondering whats happening or why Casman might be "absent", you will know why.
At the mo, he is on an NGT (feeding tube up the nose and down throat into stomach.
Will post updates.
Thanks for all your hugs and support guys - they mean such a lot at this difficult time.
Cas & Jinty

cheers guys to you all and thanks to cop66 for the email. you are stars.
update tonite is that the ngt seems to be working well so hospital are happier than we all were last night. also , the strong painkillers is making dad very sleepy which is probably the best thing for him.
mind you, the hospital's patient record keeping is fecking useful. mum and my brother were into Ninewells Hospital in Dundee today only to find some other guys charts in my dad's folder. Makes you realise how easy it is for hospitals to balls things up.
needless to say, we are still waiting for the apology and explanation. thank goodness dad wasnt scheduled for surgery or goodness knows what they might have down.
well, think I'll sign of for know (may be pop into chat first).
Thanks again guys - you're real heroes!

Hi cas
Glad to have a chance to speak to you in the room last night and the news your dad is on the mend is great    As to the other bit "mix up in notes " My families experience was worse my dad went in bout three years ago to the local hospital and the got the notes out and were checking his details one of the questions they asked was did he live at ************ cant put it for obvious reasons and it was my address they asked him if he lived at only because they had my notes and not his :fury: :fury: :fury: :fury: and to think he was there for a triple heart bypass. Still like you Dad he has had it done and now back to normal well almost: lol: Good luck mate
