firstly look at the profile and see exactly what that person is looking for in terms of a meet. Then when you start talking to them be nice, be respectful and dont be pushy. Most single females on this site can be wary of single males due to past problems, so be patient and dont get disheartened if they say no. just get to know people in the chat room first and start chatting generally, this will help people to get to know you. There is a clue in your question: "... to get a female...?" Possibly not the best way to think of your goal. Most females (or couples) don't go on here to be "got", they are mainly here to have fun, and to meet people.
Most single males are surprised at just how content single fems and couples are to simply meet up, with sex not necessarily being on the agenda.
The majority of SFs and couples won't even entertain meeting people until they've chatted to them for some time, either in the chatroom (usually the first place to start), or on (which can be the next step once they're happy to exchange addreses with you). You will find that most people are looking for entertaining individuals or couples, and not necessarily the best looking (although if you look like Brad Pitt you will usually have some sort of advantage! lol )
As BabydD and Beowulf have hinted, the best approach is to just be natural in the chatroom (easier said than done, I know, as it is a very strange environment if you aren't used to it - see "Chatroom Tips for Newbies", also in this forum). As other people get to know you and gain insights into your personality, you will then find it easier to get them to agree to a meet - it will happen, but you have to be prepared to give it time, possibly quite a long time. As has been said before, patience is the key, combined with respect!
Stick with it - the rewards are well worth it.
