Who prefers a deep long lasting shag?

Were about to re decorate our lounge and are in debate about the new flooring. We have always gone for a deep shag pile carpet in the lounge but hovering is a pain. So what do you recommend, carpet or laminate and why?

i hate laminate but that is just me i would go for a standard carpet and buy a big rug to be used on 'special occasions' if you want a bit of extra padding wink
