Usually the same people in the chatroom, are some of the same people who add to the forums... have to ask with 299173 other members, where are they and what DO they do on here??? blink:blink::blink:
That's because are free members!
Why isn't it saying the number?! Doesn't admin want the truth out there?! That's cos are free members!
OK...it is not showing the number. Let's try it this way... That is because two hundred and ninety nine thousand, one hundred and forty three are FREE!!!
Everyone who has ever signed up to SP since its inception is probably still listed in that number Blonde (including AT LEAST 100,000 who never had any intention of actually doing anything other than getting some cock pics out into the public arena and then never re-visiting the site ever again). Its a valid question though. The cynic would say that Admin can use those numbers to run a PR spin on the site "having the biggest membership in the UK" or being "the UK's most popular swingers site" when in all reality, there are probably only about a thousand (if that) active users to the site (paid and free) and of those maybe two hundred and fifty paid up members (guess) who actively chat, use the facilities and arrange meets. Therefore, is quantity better than quality? Hundreds of thousands of inactive members should not a swingers site be based on... P&H
I agree with crystalpd. I reckon that only a very small percentage of the odd members are actually active. Even 5% would probably be guessing too much. So many people come on here, have a nosey, sign up for the hell of it and never come back again. this is why I would like to see the 'last seen' bit on the profiles to be changed in order to more accurate. I mean it really can't be that difficult. Last seen 'more than 2 weeks ago' is really not terribly helpful. I mean they could have signed up once a year ago and never came back or they could have simply been on holiday for a couple of weeks. The tag on a profile telling us whether a member is a free member or premium member s a start though. But still, the membership numbers are very misleading.
Good question blondes, and i get the feeling what g4 is saying is that they are FREE members lol,but what you are saying is spot on,but there again it does bring up the age old question of not allowing free members access to pics (soz blondes i do not want to send this thread in another direction just an observation hun) that way peeps would have to put their money where there mouth is to gain access,as if all they want to do is perv pics then they will have the money to join as they need to get out more!!!,oooppppsss feel a rant coming on, But to the original question in hand blondes we are just using the forums at the mo as we have not been in chat for ages and to be honest when you have not been in for while it is hard work getting chatting again and finding the time to dedicate is tough, and we are enjoying some of the banter on the forums at the moment, there you go take care all of you, love the bays xxxxx
Hi I'm no expert as I haven't been a member all that long. From a personal persepective its quite a daunting prospect going into the Chat Room when you've never been in before. You don't want to seem to be too pushy or ignorant when chatting with established members, particularly when your a single guy. I agree with much of whats been said above and as such I tend to use the Forums. If anyone would like to show a 'Chat Room Virgin' how its done then please get in touch! Cheers JJar
Hi jjar, glad to see that you are using the forums, they are a good source of entertainment, and would agree that the chat room for the first time is daunting, but its a shame that a few single male tossers have made it hard for you single guys to make progress in this scene, you do get tarred with the same brush and thats not really fair, just pop in the chat room and see whats going on,say hello to peeps as they come in,and just be yourself, join in convo it will not be portrayed as being rude and treat all with respect, don't be pushy and in time peeps will gain your trust and let you in,trust this helps, have fun,Neil ....The Bays.
Some of those people might come back in the future.
Hi Neil Thanks for that I may give it a go. I must admit I didn't really appreciate how difficult it is for couples and single ladies because of some of the guys on here. I do appreciate the tips. JJar
There's a swingers club in the new forest that we go to from time to time, a good percentage of the other club members are members in this site too. Hardly any of them use the chatroom or forums yet they are most definately genuine! We also have a few friends from this site that won't use the chatroom on principle, as much as we hate to admit it cliquey and daunting would be an understatement! I think you would be suprised at how big the scene is outside the socialising tools within this site.
We also have a few friends from this site that won't use the chatroom on principle, as much as we hate to admit it cliquey and daunting would be an understatement!
Yeah I can understand that, new members especially seem to have trouble, I always say Hi when they come in the room, but if nobody talks to them, I guess they figure whats the point in coming back. Maybe we all should try harder with the new members, so we do get more activity in the chatroom!
well blondes i can remember our first time in the room and thought omg what on earth are we doing in here, but that was the days when the room was a very different place to what it is just lately,so much has gone on and the room has moved in a different direction, dont think it is as addictive as it was a few years ago,but maybe we have changed, who knows,
It is a completely different place now. Not sure why, think it may just be a volume thing.
From our perspective, we use the chatroom purely as a fun thing, have a few drinks at the weekend, a bit of a dance to some music and good banter. Sadly though we find that some nights there are 70 plus people in there and hardly anyone chatting ... where did the sense of humour go?
Exactly! We used to look forward to going into chat at weekends, have to admit we were completely hooked for ages! Think the chatroom is far too impersonal now. Every now and then we're in the mood to go in there and nine times out of ten we get bored or annoyed and leave. Maybe the novelty has just worn off? There has to be something wrong when I'd rather spend my time on facebook!
have to agree chat room ain't like it used to be hence why we (fluffs n me) arn't on soo often dunno lol sid n nancy funny i find myself on facebook a lot as well
the chat room feels cold, and not the warm and happy place it was once,it was more like a big family where you got to know peeps as friends now you feel you dont know anyone, addictive is what it once was.
I agree alot of what is being said. For new people it is very daunting to go in the room and say h to people but not thn get spoken to after that. I always try when I see a new face or a name I dont recognise to ask if they are new? If the answer is yes then I give a few tips that I feel help and to generally welcome them to the site. This I hope makes them feel a touch more comfy. Clicky, yes it can be as with everyone. For those comming onto the site and no one chats to them in the room. I get on and always glad to speak to friends I do already know. But also pleased to natter to those i dont recognise. I just returned to the site and still find I get in chat and dont know over half of those in the room. But lucky for me I am a chatty mare so will speak to anyone about nothing and do on a regular basis lol. Yes do think more than 2 weeks should be changed to maybe more than 2 weeks, more than 2 months and more than 6 months maybe. It would be clearer to which are never comming back on again but forgot their log in details or just only joined to peek at pics and then found they had to pay to do that then bugger off and never come back. Fruit gonna shut up now lol
Well I have noticed the difference in the site and especially the chatroom and I have only been on the site for 6 months. But maybe Nancy you could be right... has the novelty just worn off?
... has the novelty just worn off?
The thing is, members who have only been around for a few months are saying the same thing. The atmosphere in the site is always changing for better and worse but this time it seems different somehow. If the novalty has worn off for us it's taken over 4 years for that to happen, it shouldn't be happening to people who have only just got here! It really doesn't make any sense because there are more brilliant members in the site now than there have ever been. It sucks that so many are losing interest, some to the extent they don't use the chatroom/forums anymore and some that just don't use the site anymore! Maybe the recession has hit the chatroom! lol Personally we're going to make a concerted effort to spend more time in the chatroom, enjoying it like we used to and making sure we have a laugh! I appologise to the mods in advance! bolt
Well having just returned here after over 8mnths not being here, I went in chat and yes there are lots of folk I dont know but a good few I do. People seem to be chatting . I have been on another site while I have been away from here and the chatroom there was great to start but as with anything it got boring afyter a while with people just saying hello and goodbye. I dont just think its this site that is changing I think its everywhere. People have lots of worries these days and not enough time to relax. So I agree with Sid and Nancy, its time to have fun again. When I first joined this place all those years ago chat was so funny and cheeky and naughty. Lets get back to those days. sue xxxxx
