Has the prepaid subscription expired? Or is it something else that's causing a problem? Give me a shout on this ID at the hotplace but not in the uk! Get it?

GeneralC get hold of a free program called spybot (do a google for spybot, the address starts with it is a spyware and malware checker. download the exe and install it, then run the check for updates, to get the latest fixes. then check your system with it. you may have some malware that is trying to close down Norton. but also follow the last piece of advice and reinstall Norton as well Post edited 16-07-2006 10:27
The other thing you could try, this checks the whole of the windows installation to see is anything has been maliciously changed, is this: Click on Start, then Run... type in sfc /scannow and click ok You will then be asked to insert your Windows XP disk It then scans and replaces any changed Windows files back to what they should be. Then reboot your system and try norton again. Dave
thanks guys..i have been through the norton system and it seems my daughter had decided to turn off the anti virus prog..its all back on and working fine now,and daughter in dog house... many thanks for your input if i have any more probs i will shout ..thanks
After all the techie help, it turns out to be a user error! lol reminder to self, make sure you check the basics and the obvious first! Important lesson learnt here. Glad it's all sorted. x

glad it all sorted. not knowing your daughter's age etc but you might want to password protect the s/w so that daughter does not turn off again - either deliberately or accidentally. been a while since I used norton (im on panda now) but I recall there was an option to select your own password so that only you can get in to the nuts and bolts of it as it were (just don't forget the password though!) hope this helps! cara ps talking of basics, half of our pcs went blank one day whilst the other half were working fine. our helpdesk could not work out a solution and sent an engineer to us. solution: the "office north side" electrical ciruit breaker had tripped! we never forgot that our pcs were on 2 separate electrical circuits!
