Oops. Been away for a few weeks. Well, since the end of October and what with Christmas etc. it's been hard to get on the site but I've (Mr MWM) spent a while today checking out what's been happening and it looks like not a lot.
Having just renewed an annual membership I'm beginning to wonder if we made a mistake?!?!

I am beginning to agree with you mwm. I have really been getting bored and frustrated with SP lately and have thought about cancelling my membership many times. Even though there are so many fantastic peeps on here there seems to be a mass influx of desperados and wannabes that seem to be taking SP down a whole different path. I barely recognise the site I joined less than a year ago and am beginning to get disillusioned with the whole thing.
Does anyone else feel the same way? I know there have been many great people already leave for possibly very similar reasons I am thinking of leaving.
To be honest, Oli and MWM, I've not noticed the changes that seem to be bothering you. I think everyone goes through phases of feeling like this (I certainly have) - it's a common topic in forum threads, and in chat too. The dynamic of the site does change noticeably at times, and this can seem like a bad thing the first time you notice it.
Having been on the site for over 3 years now, the best advice I can give is to not make a hasty decision to leave - stick with it and you'll probably find that things improve again before too long, or else you start to find that you discover more in common with the newer members than you thought. Newer people still may join who suddenly bring a breath of fresh air from your point of view. In fact, Oli, it was you joining that stopped me from cancelling my own membership about 12 months ago, so there you go 
I hope people like MWM and Oli do stick around and grace this site with their presence. Friendly, genuine, fun people will always be welcomed and needed, so please stay!

I have said the same thing in chat to people but didn't want to post it on here cos i thought, as a moderator, you may think i had a vested interest.
The site does go through a state of flux now and then- in a way, although uncomfortable, it is healthy.
It is not just people leaving though. I have noticed that some people who have been gone a while (a year plus) are back as well.
Sometimes we see the negative aspects but forget to see what is great about the site.
Where else can you see people getting so excited about a social that Christmas is just something to get out of the way :giggle:

Wise words from sudsy and rosie there .... we've been through the same things that oli and mwm have mentioned. We just simply ignore the people that are not worth bothering with for reasons too numerous to mention, although we try to be friendly to all, sometimes people are just too different from you. Among other things over the two years or so we have been involved in this lifestyle, we have been accused of being fakes and of having our heads up our backsides, all total nonsense but we just laugh about it and carry on. The people who have got to know us will know the sort of people we are so we're not bothered what the numpties think lol. Oli and mwm you are good guys and we hope you stay, you'll know when it's run it's course for you so don't let anyone else drive you away .... ok it's mental pill time again lol xxxxxxx
