ok, i'm gonna bite on this one, just because its 20 past 3 in the morning, can't sleep so maybe throwing my opinion onto a thread may make me tired enought to sleep. smacking, well, as many will know, i have a 5 year old boy who is pretty much terror on legs, and yet i can count the amount of times he's been smack in his whole life on one hand. twice in case ya wondering. its not that i don't agree with smacking, if it works for u, go for it, its just i can't bring myself to do it, which is for 2 main reasons. 1, my mum smacked me, and to be honest, all it made me want to do is smack her back. it didn;t keep me in line and only made me resent her for thinking slapping me on the ass or leg was gonna make me feel bad for whatever i had done wrong to get it. i know its spose to make u think "ohhh, i was bad and i got smacked, i won;t do that again cause i don;t want to be smacked" but all it did was make me wanna push her further and see how bad i had to be to get another one and piss her off for smacking me in the first place. 2, i can;t raise a hand to my son and cause him physical pain, even if he deserves it. he would prob forget about the smack after a few mins but i would be wracked with guilt over it and jsut couldn't do it. oh god am i a soft touch or what?? lol so, here is me, being a parent and trying to find a humane way to disapline him. using the "be bad and i box up ya toys and take them away" trick at the mo. the sticker chart didn;t work cause he found where i kept the stickers and stuck them all over his metal bed frame instead lol right subject of ban in pubs, a yay thing or a nay thing??
Brilliant thing!!! We've made more friends from being stood outside with the smokers than we'd have ever of made in the midst of a busy pub/club!! The party's where the smokers are! it always will be!! lol Erm........ The ten commandments states "thou shalt not commit adultery". Mary was married to Joseph. But Jesus is the son of God!!! Sort that shit out!! lol
Actually we've got a better topic... Truescorpio..... Arrogant or just missunderstood??? lol Another brilliant thread true xx
Truescorpio..... Arrogant or just missunderstood??? lol Neither. Just too young and testosterone filled to understand the complexities of swinging against a normal emotion filled relationship and too ignorant of the complexities of swinging to equate sex with multiple or same sex partners asacceptable. eeeerrrr Ooohhhhh How old is too old to swing?
How old is too old to swing? Hmmmmmmm isnt that the same as how old is too old to have sex? Providing everything works and you enjoy what you do is there an upper age limit? Ok back to the swing question - no I cant honestly see that there is an upper age limit to swinging. On the reverse how young is too young to swing?
Well for me it has to be evolution i need proof to believe things and as i ain;t seen God yet there really is no choice too much scientific evidence to suggest evolution so i'm with that tis mrs by the way lol Corporal punishment yes or no?
i am a pro for this one. maybe if a or murderer knew they would be hanged or beaten publically they wouldn't do what they do. i mean, lets face it, the sentances and justice that's happening now, total joke. people get the same sentance for abusing someone as someone gets for speeding nowadays. the governments idea about ID cards? will it work?
Ok, next question: Is the world real, or is it just a figment of your imagination?
This is a question that I used to ask myself all the time when I was a kid! I suppose if I have an imagination then i must exsist (I think, therefore I am!) so am I the only real thing in the universe? Not very likely. So I guess the answer is no. Erm...is sex better with someone you love? Ellie xxxxx
I suppose if I have an imagination then i must exsist (I think, therefore I am!) so am I the only real thing in the universe? Not very likely. So I guess the answer is no.
According to some interpretations of certain postulates of quantum mechanics (namely, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle), you don't exist. It is only HIGHLY LIKELY that you exist. So there.
I may be wrong, but I think Descartes hit on the idea a good hundred years or so before Kant even started writing the Critiques... hehe, this could get interesting... Anyway, sex, better, someone you love... Not necessarily. You can have sex with someone you love, but still think they're a total bitch for making you beans on toast instead of the steak and chips that you asked for last wednesday night; and that can sometimes bring the whole experience down... *sigh*
youre missus not feeding you properly again g?
Nah. No one ever does sad
Oh, NOW I get it... hehe :) Does anyone seriously think Kosovo has a chance of surviving on its own? It seems to me like the EU offers of aid are nothing more than two fingers up to Russia.
There's alien life on this planet True...... most of it in the form of weird single male swingers!! lol I personally think there's life out there, we can't be the only ones in the ever expanding universe. Okkkk, lets think.... Would the human race breakdown if no one had the ability to lie?
Hmm - a rather existential question, Maddie ! Not easy to answer since none of us has ever experienced a situation where no one was capable of lying. Still, in for a penny ... On the one hand, total honesty could be seen as a good thing. Many of us have been hurt or tricked by lies, and would feel that we'd been better off if we'd been told the truth. On the other hand, there are situations where "lying" (to a degree) can be a distinct advantage. International diplomacy is often based on a series of carefully constructed "truthful economies" (or lies, if you prefer) - it is sometimes better to protect the listener from absolute truth for their own good. So - would the human race break down completely? Impossible to answer - but I think it functions a lot better in the long run with the ability to lie. Next question - IKEA, a standard-bearer for consumerism, or a plague on good taste and in-store sanity?
Yes they do True. It comes from the cave days when survival of the fittest was the ultimate goal. The weakest were unable to find food, or feed their family and did not survive. The strongest and most capable were able to and thus survived. They needed to sew their seed (quite literally) in order to keep the gene pool going and continue to prove their place at the top of the pecking order. (And thus, women then looked for the fittest men to have hope of survival, whilst they raised the family in the caves, and thus building relationships became more important to them). My question is ... will someone please explain what really happened in Heroes series 1 and how the hell will they continue it into series 2?
I take it no one watched Heroes then! I didn't either so I can't help with that one. I heard it was good though. Does anyone mind if I move things along with another question? I like this thread! What do you think of the classification of illegal drugs in the UK? Does it need a bit of a re-think in light of recent scientific research? Ellie xxxxx
I think that most of the problems associated with some drugs are precisley because they are illegal. I think more needs to be done about the social and health problems caused by legal drugs. Erm, substance...people who have subtance are people with stong morals but are open minded at the same time, people who are keen to increase their understanding of the world. People who are loyal to their friends. Thats what I think anyway. Ellie xxxxxx
'substance' For me the things that give a person substance are there character, personality etc. A person of substance for me would be honest, stimulating and just have an aura about them, tis a hard one to put into words, good question True really got me thinkin. Fee xx What makes a person the way they are Nature or Nurture?
Oh yes, forgot to ask a question didn't I!
25% is nurture; 75% is nature (I read that somewhere!) OK, so my Heroes question was not that good. Let me have another go...why is it that water dehydrates your skin? It is water for god's sake ... it should hydrate it. Please explain to me lol
Next question, what were you like at school, and do you think it helped shape who you are today?
Thats two you are cheating or greedy :notes: must Try to do better :giggle:
:laughabove: Arrrrrrrrrrrrr look you are doing it again True this is not BOGOF :smile2: Is there an afterlife?
Ok as no-one else is gonna be brave (or honest) enough to answer i will :!: At school i was quiet and a target for bullies cos of me curly i came through it learned to stand up for myself and be confident in who i am so yes it did have an impact on who i am today there that wasn't so hard :eeek: I do believe in the afterlife yes probably because i want to meet the peeps i've lost again someday and thats how i get on with the here and now. Is global warming real or is it just another way to get more money out of us ie roadtax fuel costs etc. ?
Over the millions of years this earth has been here it must have gone through countless changes in climate. Perhaps this is just another of those changes! It is strange working in T-Shirt in February though. Question with all the countless wars and general disagreements that religion has been the root of for many years do you think the world would be a better place if there was no such thing as Religion?
Question with all the countless wars and general disagreements that religion has been the root of for many years do you think the world would be a better place if there was no such thing as Religion?
Religion in itself is not a bad thing regardless of which faith is followed as it gives comfort to those who wish to believe. However religion without education allows for the playground bully mentality to surface, take religion away and there will still be someone who wants a bigger lollypop and will take it from the weaker child in the playground, that person will generally have disciples and hangers on to do their bidding too. In short I dont think the world would be a better place without religion those that want will always take in what ever name they see fit. Should we reinstate the death penalty?
i think we should reinstate the death penalty, a life for a life!!! aspecially paedophiles. Do what they do to children, sitting in prison is to good for them, and as for the ones that go round beating old people, and mentally diasabled people, and some killing them even, so yes definitely bring back the death pealty!!!!!!!!
ok heres one. In my part off the country, they are thinking of making disabled badge holders pay for parking. Agree or Disagree ?
The REAL question is ........ to be or not to be ? lol xxxxx
Is the answer to the ultimate question 42, or was Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy a figment of our imaginations?
