I am amazed at how many people still cannot be bothered to reply to messages.
Is it unreasonable to hope people will reply with at least 'no thank-you' considering (like me) they have taken the time to search, read profiles & compose a message??
I'm not sure whether it is a reflection of society today or the amount of timewasters plaguing sites like this - either way, I find it annoying & disrespectful.
Going around the message boards complaining isn't going to win you many friends. Are you sure that the profiles you've written to are still active? Are you absolutely sure all the people you've written to are looking for a single straight male? We're not, but still get unsolicited messages from single guys. Why should we spend time answering them? Do I spend time answering the unsolicited mail that drops through my door? No I just bin it!

Well I know this has already been bought up in the threads recently And rwb I am not the complaining sort but I do agree with mag1clc1an if someone takes the time to read a profile and make sure that peeps is looking for what you may have to offer then surly is it not to much to ask for a reply to a mail. As I said before I have sent many mails mostly to new members so they must and are active but get very few reply's, and as I say in my profile I for one would rather a GET LOST or polite NO THANK YOU than nothing at all because if the later how do you know they are not interested right enough "complaining" for now
It's not just whether you fit the description of what the person is looking for though Marc.
I've been on free membership for a couple of months (OK, so I just couldn't stay away so I've paid again now!) but I was still getting messages from people asking me to drop them a line.
They may well have been sitting there thinking how rude I was for not even sending a 'no thanks' message - but free members CAN'T reply, whether they want to or not!
Girliebob x
thing is i know first hand that sometimes saying thank you but no thank you can get people really upset, and then you never hear the end of it.
as i have said we always reply but wouldnt be botherd if someone didnt email back, as i would know that if they didnt email back then it was obviously a no thanks.
and also i would rather someone not send anything back rather then a no thanks. but thaats just me and i do realise that everyone is dif and have dif feelings.
about the free members having other methods of replying to you regarding a no thanks. this would involve them having to use their private email and i for one know i wouldnt want to risk that to tell someone no thanks.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I know some people are getting many 100s of replies and can't hope to answer them all.
"Keep it real", as Ali G says.
as we said a few weeks ago i would prefer to have a no thanks than be ignored i mean it doesnt cost anyhting does it if your a member .
we always put on our a messages if we not for you a no thanks would be appreciated we ask for that so we wont go moody with peeps for them bein honest with us
we agree with marc manners cost nothin caz an steve xx :lick:
Getting above yourself there Red as you used to be a regular and now just dis ppl......that is just rude in it's self mate and dont put ppl down when u ur self was once a single male looking on the swing scene and always a regular in the chatroom (where the feck have you gone!!!!) it seems only in the forums these days.

I think that what Casman has said is a good idea, there ahould be a system put in whereby mails that are sent to you go through a lets say, checking process to see if the senders profile matches what you are looking for and if it doesnt it gets sent back with an automated message saying that the profiles dont match.
Our profile states exactly what we are looking for. It says on one line "straight couples" if anyone mails us looking for anything else other than what is stated then that is their problem if they do not get a reply as they did not take the time or effort to read what we are looking for, hence they have got no chance of a reply, but then feel it prudent to start a thread within the forum as to why they didnt even get a no thanks.

Hi Ian,
Can't work out whether you've written this tongue in cheek or not but anyway, my point was pretty much the same as Dee's - if you write to a profile that isn't looking for what you are offering, why expect a reply? I don't believe I am "dissing" anyone, just observing that the exact same thread was posted on Swinging Heaven too and didn't last very long there as they don't tend to tolerate moaners over there very much.
I am often in the chatroom still and always try to help out single guys who need advice as I do remember what it was like being single.
Allways tongue in cheek Red you know me! We must keep missing each other then

Well Rwb I hope I don't come over as one of "The moaners" certainly not my intention, but I suppose one of the good things is we all have different opinions as has been proved by this thread there are two schools of thought for and against it would be a pretty boring world if we all had the same opinion and surely the forum is for that reason Good honest discussions
I suggest that eveybody receiving messages should deal with them as they see fit and appropriate, just as they do with other mail or email at home!! And anybody not receiving a response can assume 'no thanks', just like any other junk mail initiator!! Its called freedom of choice by recipients. And yes we choose to respond, but that is simply exercising our choice, not a requirement or being old fashioned...xxx

You're right there Marc, it would be a boring world if everyone agreed with everyone else. Although......it would mean we wouldn't need politicians.....hmmmmm!
