I am amazed at how many people still cannot be bothered to reply to messages. Is it unreasonable to hope people will reply with at least 'no thank-you' considering (like me) they have taken the time to search, read profiles & compose a message?? I'm not sure whether it is a reflection of society today or the amount of timewasters plaguing sites like this - either way, I find it annoying & disrespectful.
Going around the message boards complaining isn't going to win you many friends. Are you sure that the profiles you've written to are still active? Are you absolutely sure all the people you've written to are looking for a single straight male? We're not, but still get unsolicited messages from single guys. Why should we spend time answering them? Do I spend time answering the unsolicited mail that drops through my door? No I just bin it!

As I said before I have sent many mails mostly to new members so they must and are active but get very few reply's, and as I say in my profile I for one would rather a GET LOST or polite NO THANK YOU than nothing at all because if the later how do you know they are not interested right enough "complaining" for now
It's not just whether you fit the description of what the person is looking for though Marc. I've been on free membership for a couple of months (OK, so I just couldn't stay away so I've paid again now!) but I was still getting messages from people asking me to drop them a line. They may well have been sitting there thinking how rude I was for not even sending a 'no thanks' message - but free members CAN'T reply, whether they want to or not! Girliebob x

Girliebob x
Well Hi Girliebob Glad to see you back.   Yes I do know what you mean but even as a free member there are ways and means to contact others. I am sure you would not be one of the ones in that category I seem to remember you did respond when I first contacted you and you did say it may take time but you do try and respond. It is the ones that are even paid up that don't, and as with quite a few peeps on here I feel it is a shame as don't know bout you but one of the things I was always taught is manners don't cost nowt, :fury: :fury: :fury: and I am glad to say that even to this day I will always hold a door open for a lady so how's about it lol
thing is i know first hand that sometimes saying thank you but no thank you can get people really upset, and then you never hear the end of it. as i have said we always reply but wouldnt be botherd if someone didnt email back, as i would know that if they didnt email back then it was obviously a no thanks. and also i would rather someone not send anything back rather then a no thanks. but thaats just me and i do realise that everyone is dif and have dif feelings. about the free members having other methods of replying to you regarding a no thanks. this would involve them having to use their private email and i for one know i wouldnt want to risk that to tell someone no thanks. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
well said carly xx
its a thorny subject for sure. I can see marcs view - it would be nice to have a response one way or the other. equally, I can see RWB point as well - should a couple looking for another couple or a bifem only really need to tell a single guy to "bogof" which means "boy on girl on female"? and I can see cutiecarly (and she is a cutie too) view that when you get that first email from a stranger and you're not interested, you never know how they well feel emotionally about being turned down. OK - so perhaps they need to be adult enough to cope with rejection but telling someone you dont fancy shagging them is not always easy. it is perhaps true that we all have these views ourselves and the easiest thing is just to bin the ones we dont want. After all, do we send "thanks but no thanks to all the junk mail senders we receive by email or snail mail. is there a solution? perhaps there is. i am sure they technology is there to block emails from certain addresses. surely then Admin could allow us to block emails from certain categories of user. what I mean is if a couple are only looking for a str8 couple, they should be allowed to set their profile to allow emails only from str8 couples. thus would mean that if a single guy sent an amail, the SP system would do an autobounce back with a "thanks but no thanks" note which can be personally if you want it to be. basically, you get to pick and chose what type of profile is allowed to send you emails. what say you fellow swingers? lets think solutions rather than just bitching! cara (the bitching tgirl) lol
I know some people are getting many 100s of replies and can't hope to answer them all. "Keep it real", as Ali G says.
as we said a few weeks ago i would prefer to have a no thanks than be ignored i mean it doesnt cost anyhting does it if your a member . we always put on our a messages if we not for you a no thanks would be appreciated we ask for that so we wont go moody with peeps for them bein honest with us we agree with marc manners cost nothin caz an steve xx :lick:
oh i hate sending those no thanks notes i just say a polite no thanks and that seems to be fine. biggrin
I have to say that I will always respond to messages, even if it is to say no thanks. I also respond to single males who send me messages, even after they have read my profile.......however, the tone is somewhat different in those circumstances!! lol

Getting above yourself there Red as you used to be a regular and now just dis ppl......that is just rude in it's self mate and dont put ppl down when u ur self was once a single male looking on the swing scene and always a regular in the chatroom (where the feck have you gone!!!!) it seems only in the forums these days. As it says in the title "Anything Goes" pmsl Post edited 14-02-2006 23:36 Post edited 14-02-2006 23:41
I think that what Casman has said is a good idea, there ahould be a system put in whereby mails that are sent to you go through a lets say, checking process to see if the senders profile matches what you are looking for and if it doesnt it gets sent back with an automated message saying that the profiles dont match. Our profile states exactly what we are looking for. It says on one line "straight couples" if anyone mails us looking for anything else other than what is stated then that is their problem if they do not get a reply as they did not take the time or effort to read what we are looking for, hence they have got no chance of a reply, but then feel it prudent to start a thread within the forum as to why they didnt even get a no thanks.

I mean they have an auto delete for ppl's that put up email addys so why not the same if the profile doesn't match. Finally I don't care if I do get mail from ppl's that don't match what I am looking for Any mail would be nice

I don't believe I am "dissing" anyone, just observing that the exact same thread was posted on Swinging Heaven too and didn't last very long there as they don't tend to tolerate moaners over there very much. I am often in the chatroom still and always try to help out single guys who need advice as I do remember what it was like being single.
Allways tongue in cheek Red you know me! We must keep missing each other then Ian x

I suggest that eveybody receiving messages should deal with them as they see fit and appropriate, just as they do with other mail or email at home!! And anybody not receiving a response can assume 'no thanks', just like any other junk mail initiator!! Its called freedom of choice by recipients. And yes we choose to respond, but that is simply exercising our choice, not a requirement or being old fashioned...xxx

Although......it would mean we wouldn't need politicians.....hmmmmm!
