this is quite scary..... on another site we are members of, this thread came up in the forums and I thought i would check it out - guess what, our profile on here came up!
I would recommend you have a look - there might be long-lost memberships of other sites which you had forgotten about!

Thankyou SO much guys for bringing this to our attention I did it too and hey presto - straight back here. Scary. I just nearly became another abbi titmus! I think I will mention this in my profile too so as many as possible on site become aware of it. Maybe we should all do that?

Every site on the internet which requires a member to fill out a profile will allow search engines to crawl the information. As you have noticed by entering your commonly used username into a search engine such as google, you find all of the sites that you are registered to.
I would advise that if you do not want certain pictures to be shown, that you should add these to your private gallery or obscure your face.
My God, your so right i did try it, and here i arrived back again to where i was. Sorry but i have duly taken my face pics off, and left you all with the pics of the other end of me. ( lol- some may say looks better). It also shows what you have written in the forum. Oh My this will be shown on there also. Im away to check that Cheers for that bit of info.

I have removed any clear faced pics and put a more obscure pic in its place.
I'm more than happy to provide clear faced pics in response to a mailed request.
Bit of a pain I know at times, but better than having your pic used in a porn mag or any other publication.

ok i did this and went through 4 pages and nothing turned up for me. but i reckon i did it wrong coz i haven't a clue. do you just put your username in the google tool bar and press search uk and or web. thats what i did. someone enlighten me please thank you gypsy xx
Gypsy (and anyone else!) - yes, that's exactly what you need to do. You're probably lucky - not everyone will have been added to a general websearch database. If I search my own name, I only find one very obscure reference to my membership on this site (my profile itself doesn't come up).
It could only be a matter of time, though, which is why I took my profile pics off a long time ago !
People DO need to be aware that this is a very real risk, albeit a rather small one in reality, that someone who knows you will stumble across your photo by searching on your username. I would strongly recommend that if you're the least bit concerned about being detected on this site, clear face pics are reserved for private galleries only. It IS a pain, because it makes it harder to know if you like the look of someone or not (have to request private gallery access), but ultimately the risk is yours to take.

I recommend that you put your face picture in your private gallery as this is not accessible by a search engine. You can then control who has access to it by only sending those you know an invite to view your gallery. You can do this by clicking "add to private gallery" and "remove from public gallery" in "Your photos"
